Fire at Brúscar Bhearna Teoranta, Waste Facility, Carrowbrowne, Headford Road, Galway, Industrial Emissions Licence Registration Number W0106-02

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) were notified at 10:45 on 3rd February 2026 of a significant fire at the Brúscar Bhearna Waste Disposal Facility, located at Carrowbrowne, Headford Road, Galway.

Galway Fire & Rescue Service responded to the fire alarm late last night and remain at the scene.
EPA inspectors are on-site and currently assessing the situation. Firewater is being contained on site and will be sent for appropriate disposal.

While continuing to liaise with the Fire Brigade and Gardaí, the EPA is undertaking its own investigation, after which the Agency will consider further enforcement action.
