Discharges to the aquatic environment from sewerage systems owned, managed and operated by Uisce Éireann will require a waste water discharge licence or certificate of authorisation from the EPA. Discharges to surface water bodies from small wastewater treatment systems serving housing developments with a population equivalent of less than or equal to 150 require registration with the EPA.
