Role of the NIECE Network

The Network for Ireland’s Environmental Compliance and Enforcement, NIECE, connects organisations and people involved in environmental enforcement, engagement and promotion.

The Network provides a forum for members to share knowledge, work together and improve environmental compliance in priority areas. 

The EPA's Office of Environmental Enforcement (OEE) coordinates the activities of NIECE.

Members of the Network

The Network is structured around key thematic areas – Waste, Water, Air and Noise.

Members include local authority staff, state agencies and government departments. Representatives from other sectors including non-government organisations, businesses and producer responsibility schemes may also participate, where relevant.

Network Events

Members take part in events, workshops and training sessions throughout the year. These activities help members share knowledge, build skills and work together on key environmental issues. 

Working groups are also established to deliver specific projects and outputs.

Planning and Governance

The planning and governance of the Network is carried out by an appointed Steering Committee chaired by the EPA.
