Project Abstract

Part of the proposed fellowship will be to provide support the Technical Support Unit (TSU) of WG III of the Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change (IPCC) at Imperial College London. The TSU are preparing an IPCC special report on climate change, desertification, land degradation, sustainable land management, food security, and greenhouse gas fluxes in terrestrial ecosystems. This special report will be particularly relevant to Ireland, and therefore working with the TSU presents a unique opportunity to translate the learning from that process into the Irish context. This will be achieved by producing a report for the EPA focusing on how climate change will affect and interact with land use, land management, food security and GHG fluxes in Ireland. As well as producing this report we will disseminate findings through conference presentations and public engagement opportunities.
