Cygnum Timber Frame Ltd

Project Abstract

The primary benefit is in increasing the overall proportion of housing stock using cellulose as insulaton, from 20% to 80%. In Cygnum's case alone, this will save 156 Tonnes CO2 / year, will recyle 486 tonnes of waste paper and avoid up to 4M MJ/year embodied energy. It will also encourage potential house owners to judge the cost of ownership from an overall life-cycle perspective rather than an up-front purchase price. Specifically for Cygnum, the project will give it a significant marketing edge, particularly in relation to public contracts, especially schools, in the UK, which is a potentially valuable niche.
