Project Abstract

The project aims to establish a national process to identify and develop priority areas of strategic importance to Ireland, where interdisciplinary, user-specified services can provide benefits across a range of sectors of society, by making optimal use of coordinated environmental and earth observation (EO) data from information and service providers within relevant Irish Agencies and the Irish research community, as well as within the EU and international structures of the Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES) and the Group on Earth Observations (GEO). It will focus on encouraging potential end-users of EO information to take a leading role in both the development of services and more generally in the GMES and GEO processes themselves. It will also provide managerial and logistic support to the Irish National GMES/GEO Forum, as well as supporting Ireland's interaction with the EU GMES Bureau and the GEO Plenary. It will also carry out research to identify best practise in the area of increasing user engagement with EO services.
