Project Abstract

This research would extend work done under the same theme in the programme to date. In the first two phases of the programme (2016-2020), we focused on examining the links between various environmental exposures and health using survey data on the population aged 50+ from The Irish Longitudinal Survey on Ageing (TILDA) (15). Parallel work on urban noise and health (in collaboration with Professor Enda Murphy at UCD for the EPA-funded NOISE-HEALTH project) is also ongoing. Proposals for the next phase of the programme would build on the existing research carried out in phases I and II of the programme by extending the focus to population groups other than those aged 50+, examining lifetime exposures, using alternative sources of data (e.g., administrative) and investigating the impact of hitherto underexplored exposures such as proximity to waste sites.
