Project Abstract

While much of the existing literature recognises the potential for TE to educate for sustainable development, there is currently no research or pedagogy/educator supports examining how we would achieve and implement this. This research seeks to address this gap by investigating the practice and perception of TE teachers in educating for sustainability; identifying how sustainability is being educated for to gain an understanding of what is happening in practice; devising an agenda for alteration through the development of a STEP Toolkit which will integrate UNs Sustainable Development Goals; and evaluating the results to make informed policy/practice recommendations. This research will impact how and why TE teachers approach the teaching of sustainability by using informed data to equip them with the knowledge and tools necessary to drive social change towards a sustainable future
