Summary: The Air Quality Framework Directive (96/62/EC) sets out the principles of ambient air quality monitoring, assessment and management and was followed by four daughter directives which detailed the limit values for specific pollutants. This is the fourth daughter directive (2004/107/EC) and covers polyaromatic hydrocarbons, arsenic, nickel, cadmium and mercury in ambient air.
