Air Quality Monitoring in Wexford Town

The Environmental Protection Agency manages the national ambient air quality network. The Wexford Town station updates every two to five minutes with the calculated Air Quality Index for Health (AQIH) and the Air Quality Map shows you if air quality is good, fair, poor or very poor. The Wexford Town site is located at the Wexford Opera House on High Street. The station has been installed in partnership with Wexford County Council under the National Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Programme 2017 - 2022. Results of monitoring are presented graphically at the link below.

 

Historical air monitoring information

Air monitoring was previously carried out in Wexford Town at a site located in the yard of County Hall on Spawell Road. Monitoring began in March 2005 and finished in March 2006.  Monitoring was done by a mobile unit containing continuous monitors for sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, PM10 and benzene. Continuous samples were taken for metals.
