The abstraction register is available to the general public and can be viewed here.
The waster abstraction register has been developed to meet the obligations of the Water Environment (Abstractions and Associated Impoundments) Act 2022 and associated Regulations. The Register incorporates every abstraction which meets or exceeds the registration threshold, every abstraction for which a licence is granted and in force, and all water abstraction licence applications made to the Agency. All licence applications are open to public participation. Submissions or observations may be made on any licence application.
The EPA does not publish or make available information that could jeopardise the security of water supplies. This is in accordance with the protection of critical national infrastructure direction included under the EU Directive 2016/1148.
The EPA can share additional information on the water abstraction register with public bodies involved in water management. Information can be requested by contacting the EPA at licensing@epa.ie.
