What is the EPA doing about adaptation?

We specialise in localising international climate research and policy into usable information for adaptation planning in Ireland. Adapting to climate change impacts involves many cross-cutting issues that are critical for the future. Single-disciplinary approaches cannot fix our responses to a changing climate so adaptation work requires engagement with a wide range of stakeholders from across the practitioner spectrum.

Who is this for?

Services and projects that we provide are for the benefit of all sections of Irish society, but the data and information is best used by planners (of all different regions, sectors and types), private organisations, policy-makers and regulators. Adaptation planning and implementation needs a robust foundation and the EPA aims to contribute to that foundation or work with other organisations to provide it.

The EPA works closely with National Framework for Climate Services, Met Éireann, Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment, Geological Survey Ireland, Climate Action Regional Offices, Office of Public Works, and the Marine Institute on providing up-to-date information on the impacts of climate change, providing adaptation guidance, and building climate adaptation understanding.
