EPA prosecutes Irish Water (Malahide WWTP) D0021-01

Hearing Date: December 18, 2019

On 18th of December 2019, the Environmental Protection Agency prosecuted Irish Water (Malahide WWTP) at Dublin Metropolitan District Court.

Irish Water pleaded guilty to:

  • Failure to take corrective action when the specified requirements of the said licence were not fulfilled from the 28th of April 2018 to the 29th of April 2018
  • Failure to notify the Agency as soon as practicable after the occurrence of an incident from the 28th of April 2018 to the 29th of April 2018

On hearing details of the offence Judge Halpin convicted Irish Water on Charge One and imposed a fine of €1,500. He took Charge Two into consideration. Costs were awarded to the Agency.
