EPA Prosecutes Irish Water (Abbeydorney WWTP)

On 19th of February 2020, the Environmental Protection Agency prosecuted Irish Water (Abbeydorney - Waste Water Treatment Plant) at Dublin Metropolitan District Court.
Irish Water pleaded guilty to breaching Condition 3.2 of its Waste Water Discharge Licence (D0417-01) as follows:
- On or about the 30th of August 2017, one or more specified discharges from the waste water works exceeded the emission limit values set out in Schedule A: Discharges and Discharge Monitoring, of the said Licence.
Judge Halpin, having heard the evidence convicted Irish Water and imposed a fine of €2,000. Costs were also awarded to the Agency.
