EPA Prosecutes Uisce Éireann – Shannonvale (A0403-01)

On 29th of September 2025 the Environmental Protection Agency prosecuted Uisce Éireann, Shannonvale, Clonakilty, County Cork at Dublin Metropolitan District Court.
Uisce Éireann pleaded guilty to breaches of conditions of its Waste Water Discharge Certificate of Authorisation A0403-01, by:
- Failing on or about the 20th of September 2024 to comply with Condition 3.3, in that they did fail to operate the waste water works in accordance with best practice to ensure that discharges from the works did not cause environmental pollution.
- Failing on or about the 24th of September 2024 to comply with Condition 2.1, in that they did fail to notify the Environmental Protection Agency as soon as practicable after the occurrence of an incident, namely unauthorised discharge from the holding tank on 20th day of September 2024.
Judge Halpin convicted Uisce Éireann on all charges and imposed fines totalling €4,000. Agency costs were also agreed
