EPA Prosecutes Woodfab Timber Limited (P0358-01)

On 18th June 2025, the Environmental Protection Agency prosecuted Woodfab Timber Limited, Tinnakilly Upper, Aughrim, County Wicklow at Arklow District Court.
Woodfab Timber Limited pleaded guilty to breaching conditions of its Industrial Emissions Licence (P0358-01) by:
- Failing to comply with Condition 8.1.2, on or about 27th of July 2024, in that there was an unauthorised discharge of polluting substance or matter to off-site surface waters, namely the River Aughrim, County Wicklow.
- Giving, on or about 31st of March 2022, information which was false or misleading in a material respect, namely information in relation to there being no direct storm water discharge from the facility at Tinnakilly Upper to the River Aughrim, as set out in the 2021 Annual Report provided to the Agency, on the said date.
- Giving, on or about 22nd of March 2023, information which was false or misleading in a material respect, namely information in relation to there being no direct storm water discharge from the facility at Tinnakilly Upper to the River Aughrim, as set out in the 2022 Annual Report provided to the Agency, on the said date.
- Giving, on or about 11th of March 2024, information which was false or misleading in a material respect, namely information in relation to there being no direct storm water discharge from the facility at Tinnakilly Upper to the River Aughrim, as set out in the 2023 Annual Report provided to the Agency, on the said date.
On hearing the case, Judge David Kennedy convicted the company on all of the above charges and imposed a total fine of €5,000. Costs were agreed.
