EPA Prosecutes CRM Pigs Limited (P0642-01)

On 12th December 2025 CRM Pigs Limited, Clontyduffy, Mountnugent, County Cavan pleaded guilty to breaching conditions of its Industrial Emissions Licence – P0642-01.
On that date, the court heard evidence as to the nature and circumstances of the offences and a plea in mitigation was made on behalf of the defendant company. The case was adjourned to afford Judge Cronin the opportunity to deal with the matter of costs.
The sentencing of the case took place on the 13th April 2026 at Cavan District Court. Judge Cronin convicted CRM Pigs Limited on the following charges and imposed a fine of €2,000 on each charge:
• Failing on or about the 29th of August 2024 to comply with the provisions of Condition 10.4.2 in that they failed to provide safe and permanent access to surface water discharge point reference number SW1.
• Failing on or about the 29th of August 2024 to comply with the provisions of Condition 11.4 in that records were not retained on-site for a period of not less than seven years and were not available for inspection by the Agency at a reasonable time, namely records of visual inspections at surface water discharge monitoring location reference number SW1.
A contribution to the Agency’s costs were also agreed.
