EPA Prosecutes Kingspan Limited (P0065-01)

Hearing Date: April 10, 2026

On 10th April 2026 the Environmental Protection Agency prosecuted Kingspan Limited, Kingscourt, County Cavan at Cavan District Court. 

Kingspan Limited pleaded guilty to: 

  • Carrying out a licensed activity on or about the 23rd of January 2025, namely a class 5.12(h) activity - the production of organic chemicals such as plastic materials polymers, synthetic fibres and cellulose-based fibres at the Centre of Excellence Building and no licence issued by the Environmental Protection Agency was in place for said activity.
  • Carrying out a licensed activity on or about the 28th of March 2025, namely a class 5.12(h) activity - the production of organic chemicals such as plastic materials polymers, synthetic fibres and cellulose-based fibres at the Centre of Excellence Building and no licence issued by the Environmental Protection Agency was in place for said activity.
  • Failing on or about the 2nd of December 2024 to comply with Condition 1.2.1 of the Industrial Emissions Licence Register Number P0065-01 as amended in that there were alterations or reconstruction which were likely to result in a material change or increase in the nature or quantity of emissions, namely operational emissions points referred to as A2-4, A2-5, A2-6, A2-7, A2-8, A2-12, A2-15 and A2-16 on the date of the site visit, which were not included in the said licence.

Judge Finnegan on hearing the evidence convicted Kingspan Limited on all charges and imposed a fine of €3,000 on each of the charges.  Agency costs were also agreed.
