EPA Prosecutes Laois County Council (Kyletalesha Landfill) (W0026-03)

On 20th February 2026 the Environmental Protection Agency prosecuted Laois County Council, Kyletalesha Landfill, Kyleclonhobert, County Laois at Portlaoise District Court.

Laois County Council pleaded guilty to breaching a condition of its Industrial Emissions Licence W0026-03 by:

  • Failing on or about the 1st day of January 2025 to comply with Condition 1.4, in that they failed to comply with the maximum quantities of waste acceptance allowed per annum as set out in Schedule A.1 Waste Acceptance of the said licence, specifically for the year 2024.

Judge Cody convicted Laois County Council and imposed a fine of €3000.  Agency costs were also agreed.
