Research 270: Air Quality Modelling for Ireland
Authors: Aoife Donnelly, Bruce Misstear and Brian Broderick, March 2019
Year: 2019
Air pollution is the primary environmental cause of premature death in the EU (EC, 2013) and the most problematic pollutants across Europe have consistently been oxides of nitrogen [e.g. nitrogen dioxide (NO2)], particulate matter (e.g. PM10, PM2.5) and ozone (O3).

Year: 2019
This report presents a description of field and laboratory studies directed towards understanding the time behaviours of sources, removal pathways and number concentrations of airborne fungal spores and pollen.

Research 158 - Assessing the Impact of Domestic Solid Fuel on Ambient Air Quality in Ireland
Year: 2015
Synthesis report for the study which involved the measurement of particulate and PAH levels in Letterkenny, Killarney, Navan and Tralee for a period of one year in order to ascertain the level of particulate air quality in those towns.
CCRP 31: Influence of Transboundary Air Pollution on Acid-sensitive Ecosystems
CCRP 31 - Julian Aherne, Andrew Burton, Heidi Scott, Colin Whitfield & Marta Wolniewicz, July 2015
Year: 2015
This project looks at the impacts of transboundary air pollution on lakes in Ireland. Sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxide, levels of trace metals (including mercury) and persistent organic pollutants (POPS) were examined in relatively unimpacted upland lakes.
Research 154: PALM: A Personal Activity–Location Model of Exposure to Air Pollution
Year: 2015
The Personal Activity–Location Model (PALM) project investigated methods for modelling an individual’s personal exposure to air pollution taking into account variations in their activity and location.

A New Approach to Bioaerosol Monitoring in Ireland
Climate Change Research Programme - CCRP Report 18, January 2013
Year: 2013
This major new publication was completed by Professor John Sodeau and his research team at the Centre for Research Atmospheric Chemistry (CRAC) in University College Cork (UCC). The team used state of the art air quality instrumentation, to detect and quantify pollen, fungal spores, and bacteria that are all components of the air we breathe and are known as bio-aerosols.
