Spend your summer immersed in learning, gaining practical experience, and developing new skills to set yourself up for future success!

What is the EPA Summer Student Programme? 

The EPA offers summer placements to Third-Level students from second year and above who wish to develop their knowledge and skills.

It is a 12-week onsite programme that takes place from the beginning of June to the end of August.  

Summer Student Placement Dates 2026 

From Tuesday 2nd June 2026 until Friday 21st August 2026

Who can apply?  

Third-level students who:

  • Are studying on an undergraduate course, having completed the second year of studies and returning to college in the Autumn;
  • Or have completed an undergraduate degree and have applied to continue studying at postgraduate level (Masters, PhD). 

Placement Location  

Students will be required to be fully onsite at one of the EPA offices in Ireland (Wexford, Mayo, Cork, Dublin, Kilkenny, Monaghan).  

What can you expect from the Summer Student Programme?  

The programme offers students a unique opportunity to gain knowledge and develop a range of new skills during the summer months.  

Is it a paid placement? 

Yes, summer student programme candidates are paid by the EPA.

EPA STEPS TY Placement Programme 

The EPA partners with Engineers Ireland to offer a three‑day STEPS placement programme for Transition Year students. Held at EPA Headquarters in Johnstown Castle Estate, Co. Wexford, the programme introduces students to careers in science and engineering through insights shared by EPA staff.

The initiative is supported by Wexford Local Authority, Southeast Technological University (SETU), Johnstown Castle Estate and the Rediscovery Centre.
