Working at the EPA offers you the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the environment around us for current and future generations. As part of our team, you can contribute to driving positive environmental change while having access to a range of excellent benefits.

Benefits package

A comprehensive benefits package is available for all employees. This includes excellent career progression opportunities with public sector pay rates, pension benefits, and annual leave entitlements. Benefits by role are detailed in the Candidate Information Booklet, which is available to download for each open role.

EPA Working Week

Our working week is 35 hours as standard; however, there are a range of flexible options you can also avail of which are outlined below and may vary depending on your role.

Flexible Working

We offer a range of flexible working options to support work-life balance, including shorter working time arrangements, flexible hours, hybrid working, and parental leave provisions.

Hybrid

Our blended working model allows us to shape the future of our work while fully embracing the opportunities this new, modern approach offers. It is one of our flexible working options and will reduce commutes, and contribute to improving wellbeing, sustainability, and work-life balance.

Career Breaks

The EPA offers employees the opportunity to take a career break after a certain period of continuous service, subject to management approval. This is unpaid leave, taken for an agreed period of time, and another example of our commitment to flexibility and work-life balance.

Health and Wellbeing

The health and wellbeing of our team is a priority for the EPA. We recognise the importance of caring for our mental and physical health and general wellbeing. We have an active Wellbeing Group that organises events and positive initiatives to help us stay well and create an open and supportive culture for everyone.

Learning and Development

We are fully committed to ongoing professional development, offering our team excellent learning opportunities as they progress their careers at the EPA. This includes offering team members the opportunity to develop through on-the-job and peer learning, by engaging with multidisciplinary teams across the organisation, and through formal internal and external training programmes. Additionally, our further education funding schemes offer financial assistance for degrees, diplomas, and master’s, to help you advance your knowledge and further your career.

Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI)

We are committed to creating an environment that promotes equality, diversity, and inclusion. Our workforce is made up of a wide range of employees with diverse backgrounds, circumstances and skills – our team are undoubtedly our greatest asset.
