The Developing Environmental Research Potential (DERP) Scheme was launched in 2007. It is intended to enable outstanding early career researchers develop into team leaders of international standing and to prove their ability as independent principal investigators (PIs).
Awards under the DERP scheme are of five years duration and the grant is made to host institutions in Ireland. Funding is provided to cover salary and related costs of the PI over the period and also to cover the costs associated with two PhD studentships to run within the timeframe of the award.

Proposals are invited periodically through calls advertised in the national press and on this website.
