How to access data

The data represented here for download, and the information on EPA Maps is largely based on 2017 data for roads, rail, and airports etc. 

  • You can see Noise GIS data for Round 3 (2017) on EPA Maps, Under the Environment & Wellbeing - Noise, expand the Noise Group.
  • Select the dataset you’re interested in using the slider button (e.g. Noise Round 3 Road – Day). It may take a minute to load (initially).
  • Expand the Table of Contents on the left-hand side to view the legend.
  • Query the data by single clicking on the area you’re interested in.
  • More information on how to use the EPA Maps geo tool can be found in the application help guide.
  1. A Noise data package of zipped ESRI shapefiles is available to download from the GeoPortal Get Data section, including metadata and layer symbology files. A Noise WMS (Web Mapping Service) has been made available to all to consume. 
    • The following Web Mapping Services (WMSs) are available here. We currently support OGC WMS, WFS and ArcGIS REST services.
  2. Noise data metadata has been published on the ISDE Catalog and as Open Data.
