Reuse: Behavioural Insights Research
Behavioural insight is a foundation of the EPA’s Circular Economy Programme, providing evidence to inform policy, behavioural change interventions and awareness campaigns.
Reuse is a key component of the circular economy, helping to extend product lifespans, reduce waste and maximise the value of resources. Understanding public attitudes and behaviours towards reuse provides insights into how people buy, share, rent, borrow and pass on products, helping to identify opportunities to support more sustainable consumption patterns across Ireland.
The EPA contracted Ipsos B&A to carry out a study; National attitudes and behaviours survey 2023, investigating the incidence and attitudes towards reuse behaviours among the Irish population. These are the main report themes:
3. Renting, Leasing and Borrowing
4. Reuse Behavioural Categorisation
