Climate Joint Programming Initiative

The JPI Climate connects scientific disciplines, enables cross-border research and increases the science-practice interaction. JPI Climate contributes to the overall objective of developing a European Research Area and to underpin the European efforts in tackling the societal challenge of climate change.

The EPA is a member of the Climate JPI (www.jpi-climate.eu/) and its involvement as a partner in the related EC-funded supporting projects: ERA4CS and AXIS ERAnet COFUNDs and SINCERE Coordination Support Action. Since 2017, an EPA senior scientist is chairing the Climate JPI. The EPA was involved in the preparation of the JPI’s statement which was prepared for the Ten-year anniversary of the JPIs Conference, entitled: 10 Years Joint Programming, which took place in Vienna in September 2018.

Funding Opportunities for Joint Transnational Projects:

The EPA is providing funding to support the participation of Irish researchers in Joint Transnational Projects.

  • 2018 Climate JPI Joint Call on Assessment of cross-sectoral climate Impacts and pathways for Sustainable transformation (Status: Closed – 1 project with Irish researcher)
  • 2016 Climate JPI Joint Call on Climate Services in Europe (Status: Closed – 6 projects with Irish researchers)
  • 2013 Climate JPI Joint Call on Societal Transformation in the Face of Climate Change (Status: Closed – 1 project with Irish researcher)
