EPA Licensee Waste Data

The EPA Licensee Waste Data extract includes annually reported waste tonnages accepted at EPA licensed facilities by list of waste code. Reporting by each facility will be across multiple lines in this dataset, showing the waste accepted to the facility, and its treatment and/or transfer.

EU Reporting Year

The calendar year for which data is reported.

Licence Profile

Name of the waste facility and EPA licence number. Further information on the facilities can be found at leap.epa.ie.

Waste Source

Origin of the waste (e.g., waste accepted onto the site, waste from storage, etc).

Waste Action

Action taken with the waste at the facility (e.g., accepted, transferred, finally treated, stored).

List of Waste Code

List of Waste code for each waste type accepted to the facilities. See Guidance documents for waste statistics reporting for further information on List of Waste Codes.

Low Code Description

Description of the List of Waste (LoW) code as defined in guidance.

Respondent Waste Description

Site-specific description of each LoW code waste provided as free text (e.g., “Loose Cardboard”).

Accepted Waste Quantity

Total quantity of waste accepted (tonnes) in the reporting year by List of Waste code.

Accepted Waste Quantity from Abroad

Portion of accepted waste from outside Ireland (tonnes) in that reporting year.

Accepted Waste Quantity from Ireland

Portion of accepted waste from within Ireland (tonnes) in that reporting year.

On Site Waste Treatment Type

Code for onsite waste treatment operation and detail of treatment type (e.g., D01 - Deposit into or onto land (e.g. landfill, etc.).

Waste Quantity Tonnes per Year

Total amount of waste processed per year (tonnes). Refer to process type in ‘Waste Action’ column.

Final Destination Also Next Destination

Is the next destination also the final destination for this waste? (“Yes”/“No”).

Next Destination Abroad

Is the next destination outside Ireland? (“Yes”/“No”). This relates to exports of waste from Irish facilities

Next Destination Waste Treatment Type

Operation code for next destination and detail of treatment type (e.g., R01 - Incineration plant (use as fuel) - non-hazardous waste).

Final Destination Abroad

Is the final destination outside Ireland? (“Yes”/“No”). This relates to waste which will be exported and finally treated outside of Ireland.

Final Destination Waste Treatment Type

Operation code for final destination and detail of treatment type (e.g., R01 - Incineration plant (use as fuel) - non-hazardous waste).
