EPA prosecutes Irish Country Meats (Sheepmeat) (formerly Cabglove Limited)

On 25 June 2014 the Environmental Protection Agency prosecuted Irish Country Meats (Sheepmeat) (formerly Cabglove Limited) at Navan District Court. The Company pleaded guilty to:

• Failing to ensure that the activities at the facility were carried out in a manner such that odours did not result in the significant impairment of or significant interference with amenities or the environment beyond the site boundary

• Failing to notify the Agency of any malfunction, breakdown or incident specified in the condition of the licence as soon as practicable after the occurrence

• ELV exceedences to sewer of ammonia (as N), total phosphorous (as P), suspended solids and BOD

Judge Gráinne Malone convicted the Company and imposed fines of €4,500. Agency costs of €5,939.29 were also awarded.
