EPA prosecutes Saint-Gobain Building Distribution (ROI) Limited

On 6 October 2014 the Environmental Protection Agency prosecuted Saint-Gobain Building Distribution (ROI) Limited at Naas District Court. The Company pleaded guilty to:

• Failing to comply with a condition of its licence in that emissions to water at emission point reference number E exceeded the emission limit values set out in Schedule 1(i) of the said licence in respect of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs)

• Failing to comply with a condition of its licence by unauthorised discharge of polluting matter to surface waters in the unauthorised discharge of PAHs to surface water monitoring points A and D.

Judge Zaidan convicted the Company and imposed fines of €6,000. Agency costs of €4,919.83 were also awarded.
