EPA prosecutes Organic Gold (Marketing) Limited

On the 26th January 2018, the Environmental Protection Agency prosecuted Organic Gold (Marketing) Limited at Navan District Court. 

The Company pleaded guilty to breaches of its Waste Licence - W0219-01:

  • Failed to ensure that waste was stored in designated areas, protected as appropriate against spillage and leachate run-off on 2nd March 2016.
  • Stored waste overnight at the facility other than in designated storage areas in the bio waste reception building on 2nd March 2016.
  • Failed to maintain an impermeable concrete surface in areas of the facility on the 2nd March 2016.
  • Failed to:
    a. remove waste deemed in contravention of the licence from the facility at the earliest possible time
    b. provide the temporary storage of such wastes in a designated Waste Quarantine Area; and/or
    c. Ensure that such wastes were stored to avoid putrefaction and odour generation.

Judge Cormac Dunne convicted on Charge 1 and imposed a fine of €750. He took the other charges into consideration. Agency costs were awarded.
